Custom Slope & Tapered Insulation Packages

Tapered insulation systems built to move water toward drains, scuppers and roof edges — for facility managers and building owners dealing with a flat roof that doesn't drain the way it should.

What is a tapered insulation package?

Flat roofs aren't meant to behave like perfectly level trays — the roof assembly still needs to move water toward drains, scuppers or edges. Where the underlying deck doesn't provide enough drainage on its own, a custom tapered insulation package builds the slope into the insulation layer itself, using insulation cut and laid out to a specified fall.

A package can include sloped field panels, crickets, saddles, sumps and transitions, depending on the roof's actual drainage design. Better drainage can reduce areas of persistent ponding water and support the long-term performance of the roof assembly — though it won't eliminate every instance of ponding on every building, and not every flat roof needs a tapered package.

This is engineered-layout work, not a service we perform as licensed structural engineers — where a roof's drainage problem calls for engineering analysis beyond a tapered insulation layout, that's outside what we take on directly.

Why choose this system

  • Insulation cut and laid out to move water toward drains and scuppers
  • Can include crickets, saddles, sumps and transitions as the roof requires
  • Addresses the underlying cause of persistent ponding water, not just the symptom
  • Coordinated with the membrane installation as one project
  • Backed by Pro.Found's 10-year commercial workmanship warranty

Our approach

How Pro.Found handles this project

  1. 01

    Roof / site assessment

We look at the existing roof, deck condition and any problem areas before recommending a system.

  2. 02

    System & material recommendation

Jon explains the options that suit the building, the budget and the roofline — not a one-size-fits-all pitch.

  3. 03

    Written scope & estimate

A defined scope and a fixed price, in writing, before anything is scheduled.

  4. 04

    Deck & substrate preparation

Decking, insulation or substrate is repaired or prepared as required before the new system goes on.

  5. 05

    Installation

The roofing system is installed to the manufacturer's assembly, not just the top visible layer.

  6. 06

    Flashing & detail work

Valleys, walls, penetrations, skylights and edges are detailed as part of the install, not an afterthought.

  7. 07

    Cleanup & final review

The site is cleaned up and the finished roof is walked before we call the job done.

Common questions

How do I know if my roof needs tapered insulation?

Persistent ponding water more than a day or two after rain is the usual sign. We'll assess the roof and drainage before recommending a tapered package.

Will tapered insulation eliminate all ponding?

It can significantly reduce ponding, but we won't promise it eliminates every instance on every building — actual results depend on the roof's structure and drainage layout.

Do you provide engineering services?

We lay out and install tapered insulation packages. Where a drainage problem needs structural engineering analysis, that's outside what we provide directly.

What warranty does Pro.Found provide?
