What is standing seam metal roofing?

Standing seam roofing uses long metal panels connected at raised, interlocking seams running up the slope. Pro.Found installs snap-lock standing seam panels in 24–26 gauge steel, with fasteners and clips concealed beneath the panel system rather than exposed through the main weather surface.

The result is a clean, modern appearance with fewer fastener penetrations through the primary roof surface — a strong fit for custom and higher-end residential builds, additions and full re-roofs where the roofline is part of the home's design.

Standing seam is a different system from exposed-fastener steel (ribbed panels with visible screws). Standing seam is the premium, concealed-fastener option; exposed-fastener steel is generally the more budget-friendly metal roofing choice. Neither is universally 'better' — the right fit depends on the building, the roofline and the budget.

Why choose this system

  • Concealed fasteners — no exposed screws through the main panel field
  • Clean, contemporary architectural profile
  • Long continuous panel format with fewer horizontal seams
  • 24–26 gauge steel, a common premium thickness range for standing seam
  • Strong fit for custom and modern residential rooflines

Our approach

How Pro.Found handles this project

  1. 01

    Roof / site assessment

We look at the existing roof, deck condition and any problem areas before recommending a system.

  2. 02

    System & material recommendation

Jon explains the options that suit the building, the budget and the roofline — not a one-size-fits-all pitch.

  3. 03

    Written scope & estimate

A defined scope and a fixed price, in writing, before anything is scheduled.

  4. 04

    Deck & substrate preparation

Decking, insulation or substrate is repaired or prepared as required before the new system goes on.

  5. 05

    Installation

The roofing system is installed to the manufacturer's assembly, not just the top visible layer.

  6. 06

    Flashing & detail work

Valleys, walls, penetrations, skylights and edges are detailed as part of the install, not an afterthought.

  7. 07

    Cleanup & final review

The site is cleaned up and the finished roof is walked before we call the job done.

Common questions

Is standing seam right for my roof?

It suits most residential rooflines, though very low slopes need specific detailing. We'll confirm fit during the assessment.

Is standing seam maintenance-free?

No roofing system is maintenance-free. Standing seam has no exposed fasteners in the main field, which reduces one common source of wear, but flashing, valleys and penetrations still benefit from periodic attention.

How is this different from exposed-fastener steel?

Standing seam conceals its fasteners beneath the panel system for a cleaner look; exposed-fastener steel is fastened directly through the panel and is generally more economical. Both are legitimate metal roofing systems.

What warranty does Pro.Found provide?

Residential roof replacements carry a 20-year Pro.Found workmanship warranty. Manufacturer product warranties vary by system and are explained during your estimate.

What happens during an estimate?

Jon assesses the roof himself, walks you through the system options and follows up with a written scope and a fixed price. No sales appointment, no pressure.
